The time it takes to construct a piece depends on its complexity. “A simple design might take a few days, while a more intricate, custom piece could take weeks or even months, especially with hand-set stones or detailed engraving.” She is proud of how far her brand has come since its launch. “One of my biggest accomplishments was opening our flagship store in beautiful Palm Beach, which has allowed me to connect directly with clients and share my passion for fine jewellery in an intimate setting,” she said. “Another dream realised was creating The Jewelled Barn - a mobile retail experience that blends my love of horses and jewellery, bringing a unique, luxury shopping experience to equestrian events across the country.” The brand also successfully launched its wholesale division. “I’m thrilled that Karina Brez Jewellery is now carried by some of the most exclusive retailers across the United States,” the gemolo- gist said. “Seeing my collections resonate with a wide audience - from collectors to everyday jewellery lovers - has been incredi- bly rewarding, and I’m excited for what’s to come.” The best aspect of designing is “turning a raw idea into a tangi- ble, wearable piece of art that holds meaning for someone.” Ka- rina believes attention to detail, expert craftsmanship, and eth- ical materials sourcing make a quality product. “A piece should feel as good as it looks, with durability and design integrity.” She equally loves sketching and constructing her pieces. “Sketching allows me to explore ideas freely while constructing brings the vision to reality.” She admires jewellery designer Aldo Cipullo as he pushes the boundaries while maintaining artistry and timelessness. She would love to design a piece for Shania Twain as the singer’s style aligns with her aesthetic and would bring a unique energy to her designs. Karina prepares for a jewellery shoot or show by curating the pieces based on the theme and ensuring the styl- ing complements the overall mood. “Lighting, background, and model selection all play a role in bringing the collection to life.” The gemologist is drawn to deep emeralds, classic icy blues, and gold because they evoke luxury and elegance. She loves working with gold, platinum, and ethically sourced gemstones, includ- ing ruby, emerald, and sapphire, because they “offer durability, beauty, and endless creative possibilities.” Her advice to aspiring jewellery designers is to “learn the craft, be patient with your growth, and stay true to your aesthetic. Trends come and go, but originality and quality will always set you apart.” Karina plans to expand her brand, collaborate with other crea- tives, and continue to innovate while maintaining the integri- ty of craftsmanship.
