The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2024 - Issue 36

bitemen The brand, co-founded with Ashley Lloyd-Jennings, quickly transitioned to the forefront of traditionally inspired mens- wear. Today, it has over 160 stores in more than 30 countries and specific tailoring lines, including Hackett No.14 Savile Row, an expert line of British tailoring; Hackett London, a diverse wardrobe of separates; and Hackett Sport, a new col- lection launched in 2023 to dress the off-duty Hackett man. It has partnered with like-minded brands like British Army Polo, Henley Royal Regatta, and Aston Martin. For its 40th anniversary in 2023, Hackett London created a limited-edition Heritage Collection with iconic pieces such as the 1983 rugby shirt, hooded sweatshirt, t-shirt and caps. They also unveiled a visually captivating campaign set in the Scottish countryside, featuring Formula 1 champion Jenson Button and British actor Matthew Goode dressed in the brand’s finely tailored garments. The campaign symbolised their enduring commitment to quality and British heritage. They released a special tweed cloth nodding to its deep-root- ed connection with British tailoring and traditional materi- als, blending craftsmanship with modern elegance. Addi- tionally, they revived argyle sweaters, incorporating fresh designs into the characteristic diamond pattern. The brand reopened its 2,000-square-metre flagship store at Pavilion KL in Malaysia with a fresh redesign and a new retail concept, showcasing the complete collection, including menswear and Hackett Kids. The brand partnered with English model David Gandy to create a collaborative Wellwear collection of t-shirts, joggers, slim-fit hoodies, and relaxed-fit pyjama shirts and trousers. The Hugo & Hudson collaboration features knit jumpers, jackets, collars, leads, harnesses, and beds for dogs. Long- standing English shoe brand Cheaney produced a selec- tion of Derby, Saddle Loafers and Oxford shoes, and Carl Friedrik’s luggage added another line to Hackett London’s accessories. Hackett London returns to its British capital roots this season in the AW24 collection, ‘We Belong to London’. The campaign, shot by fashion and portrait photographer Ben Harries, follows three stylish men as they traverse from the Royal Academy of Arts to Piccadilly Arcade, exploring the vibrant streets of Mayfair and the serene beauty of St James’s Park. Each location resonates with the city’s spirit, reflecting a fusion of Hackett’s refined elegance and London’s unique charm. The collection incorporates traditional British patterns like windowpane, Prince of Wales, herringbone and tartans in autumnal hues of rich burgundies, warm tobaccos, classic navy blue and forest green. The garments define the style of blazers, gilets and trousers, designed for the modern man who maintains his refined look in any setting. Whether a morning transit by the Thames or cosy evenings in amber-lit restaurants, each look transits seamlessly to ensure comfort and style throughout all weather conditions. Hybrid pieces for flexibility during transitional weather feature lightweight fabrics like cotton and nylon. The heavier materials are cotton jersey yarns, cord knits, and down jackets. Suede adds a luxurious touch, while layering and knitwear incorporate the new gilets, Fair Isle designs, and intricate cable knits. Outerwear like the Velospeed, 4-pocket jackets, and down coats provide stylish protection against London’s ever-changing climate. Men will look exquisite in styles like the Water Resistant Jacket in midnight blue or beige taupe featuring a shirt collar with suede details, zip front closure, concealed placket with snap button closure, inner lining with houndstooth print, front welt pockets, back slit at the hem and a metal Hackett logo plate on the back of the neck. The midnight blue or steel grey Knit Bomber Jacket has a high neck, long sleeves, front button fastening, flap and button on the back pockets, and ribbed neck, cuffs and hem. The stylish Check Wool Blazer in grey or green with a half- lined interior in Italian wool and cashmere has a window- pane check design, single-breasted fastening, welt pocket on the chest, notch lapel with buttonhole, side flap pockets, four-button cuffs and inner welt pockets. The Half Zip Jump- er in midnight blue, chambray blue, forest night green, red or granite grey has a blend of wool and cashmere with Italian yarn fabric, a high neck with half-zip closure, long sleeves, elbow patches and ribbed neck, cuffs and hem.
