Jada Brookes is fascinated by the Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatches Sintesi and Senso and their sports editions by Globics. bitewatches I n 2008, Italian design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina introduced its Sintesi (meaning ‘synthesis’) concept sports car at the Geneva Mo- tor Show. The four-door and four-seat shooting brake was designed to highlight new technology and showcase the brand’s evolving and groundbreaking re- search. It introduced Liquid Packaging, which shaped the mechanicals around the passengers, and Transpar- ent Mobility, which allowed the vehicle to exchange information with other cars and traffic through wire- less technology. The sports car featured a large windshield surface and a front spoiler. Its front and rear scissor doors allowed the occupants accessible entry and exit. The side view’s flowing, smooth look and sharp edges characterise the wheels and the front and rear ends. The side air intakes and outlets gave a sporty touch to the dynamic design and created an interplay of convex and concave surfaces. Overall, the concept sports car had a relaxed, elegant profile that was sleek, tapered and aerodynam- ic. Inside the cabin, the facia symbolised the flow of information in which the car moves. A single semi-transparent piece created by Materialise used the additive technology of personalised manufacturing to disseminate the information around the passenger compartment through colour and light. The lights became focal points through which the car dialogues with its environment. In addition to the innovative LED system, the headlights incorporated the telecam- eras and the proximity radar system. Globics Technology develops and sells hybrid and digital smartwatches. Its products are designed by top industrial designers in Hong Kong and Europe, consisting of Hybrid smartwatches with a sundial and a heart rate sensor. Hybrid Advanced incorporates smartwatches with sundial, OLED display and a heart rate sensor. Hybrid Premium expands on smartwatch- es with a full AMOLED display and a heart rate sen- sor, and Digital Smart Watch features an entire dis- play, a heart rate sensor, and a built-in GPS.
