ClaudiaWang Creative Motion bitefashion B orn in France, Taiwanese designer Claudia Wang grew up surrounded by creativity in a family of artists, nurturing her innate passion for fashion and design. With a deep investment in her craft, she graduated from the Department of Practical Fashion Design and earned her Master of Interactive Design from Taipei University of Technology. This academic background laid the foundation for her unique approach to fashion, blending art aesthetics with cutting-edge virtual technology and a commitment to sustainable practices. Wang’s namesake brand was created in 2020 and formally established as a design company in 2021. In a few short years, she has captured the attention of fashion giants like Vogue International and Vogue Taiwan, thanks to her innovative integration of art, technology, and sustainability in her designs. Her journey as a designer has seen her groundbreaking collections challenge fashion norms while respecting traditional craftsmanship. The designer’s previous work, including the critically acclaimed ‘Civilisa- tion of Love’ collection at Taipei Fashion Week, showcased her body diversity and forward-thinking developments in fashion production and artificial intelligence. Her latest collection, unveiled at London Fashion Week, marks a significant evolution in her design philosophy. In a notable departure from her earlier, more exuberant use of colour, the designer embraced a more muted, earth-toned palette. This shift towards deeper browns, burgundies, blues, and reds reflects a more refined, mature aesthetic, establishing a dis- tinct identity within the crowded landscape of luxury fashion. While less overtly colourful, this collection is no less impactful; it speaks to the designer’s ability to adapt and grow while staying true to her artistic roots. The designs draw inspiration from the traditions of iconic fashion houses like Chanel and Louis Vuitton while engaging with contemporary trends of modernising archival styles. This blend of old and new is evident in how each garment is executed and tailored. One of the standout pieces in the collection is a stunningly tailored cream-white dress that exem- plifies this approach. It features precise draping, oversized puff sleeves, and an exaggerated drop waist, creating a planar silhouette reminiscent of the sleek benchmarks of 1920s fashion. An abstract royal blue floral and celestial print, dense horizontal lines, and stark black contrast piping add a contemporary twist, making the piece timeless and modern. The dress is a versa- tile, wearable piece that would be equally at home at a high-society wedding or a glamorous holiday on the Italian Riviera.
