Bibi van der Velden Cristina Lloyd is enchanted by Bibi van der Velden’s unique jewellery, influenced by nature, elements, and animals. bitejewellery A ccomplished sculptor and jeweller Bibi van der Velden, re- nowned for her unique, evocative creations that transcend the traditional boundaries of jewellery design, sees jewellery as a personal way of expressing oneself and being different to everyone else. “I like jewellery to be super personal, to speak without words, and to bring joy when you wear it.” The artist designs her jewellery the same way she sculpts her artworks but on a smaller scale. She was born in New York and raised in England and the Netherlands. Her cosmopolitan upbringing and exposure to diverse cultures profoundly influenced her artistic vision. Her mother, Dutch sculptor Michèle Deiters, nurtured her creative spirit. Following her mother’s footsteps, Bibi studied fine arts in Florence, Italy, before honing her skills at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Royal of Arts in The Hague.
