bitefashion I n the bustling streets of London, where creativity knows no bounds, the story of Marques'Almeida began—a journey marked by relentless explora- tion, bold experimentation and a fierce dedication to empowerment. Founded by the dynamic duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida in 2011, the brand has carved out a niche in the fashion landscape, challenging norms and redefining the boundaries of sartorial expression. The founders' paths crossed in the vibrant halls of Central Saint Martins, where they both pursued their passion for fashion design. Marta immersed herself in the design world with her keen eye for detail and innate sense of innovation. At the same time, Paulo delved into the intricacies of mens- wear, exploring the intersections of culture, identity, and style. Little did they know their journeys would converge to form a formidable partnership to revolutionise the fashion industry. Their shared vision of authenticity and self-expression em- bodies the spirit of raw, unfiltered creativity. From the out- set, their designs stood out for their distinctive aesthetic—a fusion of oversized silhouettes, distressed denim, and un- expected textures that challenged the conventions of high fashion. With each collection, they pushed the boundaries of traditional design, blurring the lines between art and fashion and inviting audiences to embrace their individu- ality. As Marques'Almeida gained momentum, the duo re- mained committed to their values of inclusivity and diver- sity. Rejecting the narrow standards of beauty perpetuated by the fashion industry, they cast models of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds in their runway shows and campaigns, celebrating the beauty of authenticity. Their commitment to representation and inclusivity struck a chord with au- diences worldwide, earning them widespread acclaim and recognition. Beyond their creative endeavours, Marta and Paulo have been vocal advocates for social and environmental causes. Recognising the fashion industry's impact on the planet, they launched REM'ADE—a manifesto dedicated to sus- tainability, ethical practices, and responsible consumption. “Quando eu morrer, voltarei para buscar os instantes que vivi junto ao mar (When I die, I’ll come back to look for the mo- ments I lived by the sea” - A poem by So- phia de Mello Brey- ner Andresen spoken by Maria Bethânia in Canto de Oxum
