The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2024 - Issue 35

W hile Bridgerton enthusiasts are glued to the screen watching the Lady Whistledown shenanigans with abated breath and football fans mourn England’s loss to Spain in the UEFA Euros 2024, we wishfully hope for vast days of sunshine when summer officially starts. Hot weather in this country is often a rarity, and many dream of sunny spots like Majorca, Tenerife or even Cullera in Valencia, where festivals and parties bring natives and visitors together. One of our favourite artists, Spyros Verykios, curated the ‘Wow! Pow! Bam! Comics and Painting—A Meeting at the End of the 20th Century’ exhibition at the Zoumboulakis Gallery in Athens, Greece, which ran until 20 July 2024. This extraordinary display explored the influences of comics on contemporary painting. Montblanc enchants us with its exquisite writing instruments in gold interlay from their Masters of Art tribute to Austrian painter Gustav Klimt with intricate markings reminiscent of his paintings. Alfa Romeo revamped its 1960s mid-engine 33 Stradale sports car to create a modern limited edition two-seater coupé with proportions, volumes, and surface properties linking internal combustion and an electric powertrain. The longstanding British marque Rolls-Royce has achieved its long-awaited dream of producing an ultra-luxury electric coupé with the Spectre. The all-electric car fulfils co-founder Charles Stewart Rolls’ early 1900s foresight of electric vehicles. The ever-evolving Black Eyed Peas adopts the magic of AI for the futuristic space planet-like sceneries in their ‘Guarantee’ music video. We revisit their genesis, music, hiatus and lead singer changes fromKimHill and Fergie to J. Rey Soul. Another legendary artist, Kylie Minogue, keeps us current with her pulsating dance, house, synth pop and electro tracks. From ‘80s bubblegum pop to today’s genres, the evergreen singer shows no signs of slowing down. We ate pasta like the Romans at the Al Dente restaurant in Monument and at the opening of their fourth site in Angel, which offers Roman favourites Carbonara, Amatriciana, and Cacao de Pepe. The Chocolatier Aneesh Popat expands his repertoire beyond chocolate with J’Lato, a portmanteau of gelato and chocolate. We indulged in the delicious and intriguing flavoured desserts at the event opening, exclusively available at Brityard on Regent Street in London. Our fantastic SS24 issue includes fashion, beauty, lifestyle, cars, exhibitions, films, theatre, music, holiday destinations, and more. We hope you have a fabulous summer with plenty of sunshine and hot weather. editor’s letter All rights reserved.
