The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2024 - Issue 35

bitefashion and skirt with an orange chain-like print, black and white coat, yellow leather jacket with lined and bold black triangular pat- terns and faux fur coats. With empty streets and audience-less attendance at fashion shows courtesy of the pandemic lockdown, photographer and art director Vova Klever directed GUDU’s SS21 fashion film. The collection included the dark green and caramel brown eco-leather geometric intertwining pattern dress and jacket, a green sculpted bodice midi dress and a baby blue oversized eco-leather biker jacket depicted against a stark, infinite white set with female models rotated in sculptural tailored silhouettes. FW21’s collection saw GUDU’s usual dark and bright colour hues in geometric dresses, double-breasted, leather and foam padded coats, slim fit jackets, knitwear, cropped, sheer and long tops with swirly prints, tailored trousers, a v-shape cropped leopard print shirt and bodysuits. The following season, Lasha was inspired by Kyiv’s music, art and style, where the work of Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist Kazimir Malevich met vintage denim and the brand’s signature tailoring in his SS22 collection. GUDU centred mainly on coats and jackets for their FW22 collection, with a long multi-zipped leather coat catching the eye. The designer also lit the mood with an outstanding baby blue and yellow coat with black triangles, while the white gold buttoned coat showed sophistication and expert tailoring. The black dress with a trouser waist look was unique and striking. The other apparel, shirts, skirts, cardigans and jackets complet- ed the set. Lasha went back to the dark side with his SS23 collection of ve- gan leather and classy tight trousers, a basque worn as a mini skirt, a pleated layered skirt with a side buckle, a denim mini skirt, a vegan maxi skirt, a high-waisted midi dress, a sport style bodysuit and one shoulder top with an open back, denim bustier top, tailored and double-breasted jackets, double layered trousers, and a hooded oversized jacket with drawstrings. These looks were accessorised with polo necks, spaghetti strap tops and a cropped blue shirt. It was the turn of the dresses in the AW23 collection where a bustier maxi dress with pencil bottom and decorative hips, a bustier mini dress with a pleated layered hem, a heart-shaped leather dress with side cutouts and an eco-leather dress in black were centrepieces. Denim also played a part in the maxi dress with a decorative bust and copper button belt. In contrast, a high waist cami top mini dress with asymmetric pleated layers and waist cord belt was available in black and white. The SS24 collection tells the story of a strong woman who sets the game rules herself. The silhouette cuts help emphasise indi- viduality, where a familiar biker jacket is turned into a corset or double trousers that look impressive on the move. In signature black, the collection includes a double-breasted organza pleated trench coat, a belted vegan leather trench coat, a double-breast- ed jacket with wrap lapel, an oversized hooded jacket trans- former, and a high-neck moto-style eco-leather jacket. The dresses consist of a vegan leather mini shirt dress with a pleated skirt, a romantic sheer midi dress with a decorative bust, a pleated maxi dress with emphasised waist and velvet ribbon decoration, a bustier gode dress with decorative skirt detail and a denim mini dress with decorative lapel. Seductive tops could be seen in the asymmetric eco-leather bra, sleeve shirt with dec- orative slots and front buttons, and a classic high-neck bodysuit with skirts and trousers added to the set.
