The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2024 - Issue 35
bitefashion A.M.G Power Dressing A.M.G’s SS17 collection was experimental with cardinal changes and innovative fabrics. Inspired by street culture, Alyona re- vealed in an online interview with Yuliana Dementyeva in April 2017 that she engaged in breakdance during her childhood. Thus, she mixed the signature A.M.G style of lace, silks and oth- er natural fabrics with rough and sporty materials and apparel. The collection featured knitted hooded tops, patterned dresses, a leather-themed shirt and an off-the-shoulder jumpsuit. The SS19 collection saw tailored jackets, vests, and trousers with dresses, jumpsuits, gowns, separates, and knitwear in tan, orange, pink, maroon, and green hues. The standout pieces were the four-button detailed, button-less and double-breasted jackets in sand, ginger, and orange; a one-shoulder mini dress in tan; a mini jumpsuit in khaki or beige; a multi-coloured military jacket and shorts; a rose and pink micro dress; sheer brown dresses and brown leather pants. FW19 retained the tailored jackets with jumpsuits, leather jackets, parkas, sheepskin and trench coats, knitwear, bodysuits, tops and shirts the following season. The palette extended from light in sand, beige, and white to more prosperous and darker hues in red, pink, peach, brown, orange and black. The light pink silk trousers have an attractive drop waist at the front with an inner tight-fit waist as though the model is wearing two looser trousers. For SS20, Alyona centred on raincoats, long, straight, loose dresses, trousers, shorts, shirts, and blouses. The colour contrast was a mix of yellow, lime, beige, ginger, blue, dark red, grey and other hues. One of the outstanding pieces was a shiny blue jumpsuit with epaulettes, military pockets, and a tie waist. The long shirt dress and shirt in shiny lime brighten the room, and the turquoise tailored jackets feature an additional button panel that gives it a unique look. The designer presented a bright, sultry look with her FW20 col- lection. These included the diagonally cut black and white leath- er shirt, black dress with crossover panels and pockets, dark brown leather dress, grey silk sheer shirts, black leather hoodie and black blouse. With the Bordeaux jacket and trousers adding a rich maroon tone to the collection, the beige coat and trousers gave an earthly silhouette. The white jacket and trousers cut a clean and sophisticated look. Stripes and monotones played a role in A.M.G’s SS21 collec- tion in collar and collarless jackets, trousers and tops. Earthly colours were seen in strapped, one-shoulder, knitted and silk dresses, a leather bomber jacket and matching trousers. Primary colours brightened the theme in blouses, tight-fitted dresses, mini skirts, a collarless jacket and a leather skirt with two zips. Alyona injected denim into this collection through a shirt with decorative buttons. The oversized silk brown jacket and wide trousers looked elegant. A more casual look demonstrated the FW21 collection with puffer coats, jackets, waistcoats and boots. The designer also incorporated sheepskin coats and jackets to combat the winter season while the brown and black leather trend in coats, jackets, skirts and trousers such as the high-waisted midi-skirt, long leather coat and the elegantly leather fitted jacket. Rich colours like brick, khaki, Bordeaux, and mustard appeared in suede shirts, trousers, coats and dresses. Black, white, mint, khaki, beige and pink headed the palette for the SS22 collection. The usual shirts, jackets and trousers were there. Still, newer styles such as the long black dress with glitter decorated cutout on the side, white A.M.G logo signature per- forated blouse, mint crop bra top with sleeves and high-waisted skirt with lacing were introduced. Other styles include a short black dress with lacing, a short white jacket with a clasp, silver, pink or white hand-knitted dresses and red or black knitted bodysuits. Fast-forward to FW23, the dominantly dark palette carried red, orange and beige injectors. The three interesting new pieces were the black silk jacket with a patterned white panel on the lapel, a black silk maxi dress with a long white embroidered panel and a black mini dress with open shoulders. The dark blue skinny trousers had a buttoned over-flap and a pocket, and the black leather dress was structured with a corset-like body. The black lace and white maxi dress looks sensational for a seductive look, For SS24, A.M.G kept its monotone palette in an oversized white jacket and trousers with black piping and vice versa, a white pearl velvet dress with a centre zipper, a lightweight black and white striped pyjama shirt and trousers, a black blazer dress with centre buttons and a black halter-neck top. Colours were injected in the orange cotton loose-fit jacket, oversized dark green fold-down collar dress, light pink linen knitted jacket, pink striped cotton open cut jacket, midi skirt, and green bal- loon maxi dress.
