bitenewmusic Feeder - Soldiers of Love T aken from their double album Black/Red , set for release on 5 April 2024 on Big Teeth Music via Townsend Mu- sic/Absolute Label Services, British rock band Feeder shared their double A-side single ‘The Knock'/‘Soldiers of Love’. “‘The Knock’ is one of the more direct, uptempo songs on the Black/Red album. It’s a song about a highway or road of life, the journey it can take us on, and the challenges we face along the way,” vocalist, guitarist and writer Grant Nicholas explained. “When penning ‘Soldiers of Love’, I remember having a clear visual image for the song, almost like a film soundtrack. It’s the first time we’ve recorded bagpipes on a Feeder track, as we felt they would add to the slight Celtic feel of the song. It was orig- inally going to stay more of an acoustic style track, but I felt the song could be more cinematic and grander sonically.” The album theme has the same sense of wide-open space, freedom and possibility aligned with an optimistic energy as the previ- ous album, Torpedo. Cohesive and connected rather than a concept, Black/Red is a continuation of Torpedo’s conversation but simultaneously a complete stop on a prolific songwriting period that encap- sulates a specific moment for the band. Feeder’s first double album became the perfect way for them to realise what these songs mean in the present day and show the breadth of a sound they’ve honed across the decades, taking in muscular riffs, sky-scraping melodies and heartfelt sentiments. “I wanted the album to be split into two parts for the listen- er, CD1 and CD2, black and red rather than one long player, almost like a musical production with an interval,” Nicholas added. “Making the Black/Red album was a creative time for me as a writer, a real labour of love and personally a musical pilgrimage, and I feel the result is undeniable Feeder.” The band will be touring the album, which will be available digitally, on CD and vinyl throughout the UK in 2024. https://feederweb.com Images courtesy of Prescription PR via Steve Gullick
