bitecatwalk A s if watching a literal walking ballet of divine, perfectly wear- able confections of translucent tulle, lace, and leather wasn’t enough to send one’s heart into palpations, the meticulously bedazzled diaphanous gowns, micro-mini dresses, skirts and sepa- rates that floated down Aadnevik’s AW23 runway show were sure to send one into cardiac arrest! The dynamic Aadneviks struck again this season with a brilliantly balanced, overtly sensual and seductive collection that left nothing to the imagination yet felt exquisitely ele- gant and tailored. “You can look, but don’t touch.” The two designers, Hila and Kristian, who are married in work and life, have been a formidable powerhouse in the luxury couture busi- ness since their debut in 2013, and they don’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. With their devoted celebrity following of gor- geous individuals like Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Candice Swanepoel, Cara Delevingne, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Halle Berry, the Aadnevik collections undoubtedly prove they know exactly how to outfit a woman to feel and look her absolute best for any event. This season, dusty pastels, glittering golds and metallics, lithely tooled leathers, and delicate laces came together in several skin-baring, waist-high-slitted gowns, mini-skirt dresses and supportive bustiers. The models sashayed down the romantically lit runway with polished laurel leaf hair accessories and thin, nude ankle-strapped heels. The collection was a tear-jerking line-up of dreamworthy pieces that make you internally wish you were a princess or an A-list celebrity whose life is centred around flitting from one incredible black tie event to a private, password-only club. I wept in internal silence with deep jealousy when I saw look #9. This muted, pale forest green tulle tutu-esque short, strapless dress with silver bejewelled detailing under the bustline had me wishing for a ticket to the Nutcracker . The weeping continued with looks #28, #29 and then, oh my heart, #39. The most stunning strapless column sheath dress in sheer, pale, icy blue with twinkling silver beading floated past. I couldn’t tell if this gown had one visible seam. The expertly placed nude lining made it appear as if this gossamer gown that I’ve named ‘Twilight’ didn’t hang from the model but in- stead enveloped her like the lightest draped silk. This gown and the rest of the collection continued to drive home that timeless, feminine dressing isn’t a thing of the past, that blending couture and ready-to- wear is still alive and well, and we have the Aadneviks to thank! www.aadnevik.com AADNEVIK
