The duo were determined to learn jewellery-making through completing apprenticeships, intensive workshops, and studying books. Motivated by their tight bond, the sisters persevered. “We found inspi- ration in the powerful connection we share as sisters, unlike any other,” Mounaz explained. The siblings’ bond is tenderly etched into each piece through meaning- ful symbols celebrating familial strength. For instance, the Bond bangles, sold in pairs, encapsulate this theme. Crafted in radiant 18-karat gold and studded with dazzling gems, the bangles represent an eternal link. Another ode to sisterhood is the Dual Heart pendant, with two gleaming hearts en- twined in precious diamonds or gems - a visual metaphor of souls forever connected. The dainty Sisterhood rings feature two thin bands joined by a bar glittering with diamonds. These unique pieces serve as reminders that with sisterly support, anything can be achieved. The new collection also pays homage to Okhtein's Egyptian heritage, in- corporating iconic cultural and historical symbols. The ubiquitous Evil Eye appears in rings, bracelets and pendants to ward off ill will. Sapphires form the intense stare on one pendant, outlined in diamonds with a round sap- phire teardrop, resembling a kohl-rimmed blue eye. Scarab beetles, belov- ed in Ancient Egypt, are also elegantly interpreted. The Ankh representing life is crafted into a gleaming pendant. Each heritage-inspired piece tells a rich story, speaking to the beauty of Okhtein's culture through jewellery. Aya and Mounaz partnered with Egypt's most skilled jewellery artisans to breathe life into their meaningful designs. Meticulous craftsmanship elevates symbols like the Scarab and Evil Eye into contemporary art. Creatively blending her two loves, Mounaz presented jewellery-inspired handbags for special events, beautifully contrasting Aya's pared-back, neu- tral style. Their differing design tastes strike an equilibrium between em- bellished and minimalist. The new collection has an undeniably modern sensibility. The clean, sculptural shapes exude quiet confidence. Everyday symbols like the Evil Eye become high jewellery with vibrant gems and innovative cuts. Striking colour combinations feel excitingly unexpected. The minimalist silhouettes move seamlessly from day to night. These are treasures to be enjoyed for generations. For the Abdel Raouf sisters, this collection represents a milestone, over a decade of chasing their jewellery dreams.
