The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2023 - Issue 34

Both styles are powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 M840T petrol engine producing 750PS and torque of 800 Nm. Thanks to its weight-saving components, power boost and shorter drive ratio, the 750S is 10% faster than the outgoing model, accelerating from 0-60 mph in an astonishing 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 206 mph. It also features a new triple-layer head gasket, twin fuel pumps, higher pressure turbos, lighter pistons and a standard-fit sports exhaust placed in the centre of the rear deck. The modified engine mounts give an ‘intensified sense of connection’, and the power lump can be seen through a new optional glass decklid. The air within the cylinders is increased through the boost pressure in the ultra-low inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers. Optimised transmission gearing is amplified by in-gear acceleration and kick-down control strategy, while increased downforce provides a better aerodynamic balance than the 720S. A physical connection between driver and car is height- ened through the bespoke engine mount and the centrally mounted exhaust layout inspired by the McLaren P1™ acoustically tuned to give a distinctive clear tone and sharp crescendo at high engine speeds. Drivers plan- ning extensive circuit driving can opt for a track brake upgrade of ceramic discs and monobloc callipers from the McLaren Senna system, alongside a new brake booster, vacuum pump and Formula 1-inspired integrated calliper cooling technology. The supercars have a 6-millimetre wider front track and new suspension geometry that arrives with the marque’s new generation Proactive Chassis Control III with three per cent softer front springs and four per cent firmer rear ones. This functionality is renowned for combining aston- ishingly precise body control with a remarkably compliant ride. It delivers higher levels of suspension performance, making it integral to the outstanding dynamic abilities of the 750S. Inside the Cabin With a more driver-focused interior, the 750S sets new standards in innovative technology for display control engagement. The driver-centric instrument screen, mounted in a binnacle, is flanked by rocker switches, con- trolling settings that enable suspension and powertrain modes to be utilised with hands on the steering wheel and focus on the road ahead. The Powertrain and Han- dling modes allow the driver to move effortlessly between Comfort, Sport and Track Active Dynamic settings. Inside the cabin, you’ll find Apple CarPlay® as standard, USB-C and USB-A connections for fast charging devices and a new Bowers &Wilkins premium audio system with a powerful amplifier and Continuum® cone speakers. The 750S exclusive McLaren Control Launcher (MCL) adds another dimension to the driver’s interface and is activated using the famous McLaren Speedmark button. It bitecars Images courtesy of McLaren
