Ellis Brooklyn’s logo was initially modelled on a lion. Still, when Bee took a closer look, she noticed writers hailed literary lions were often old-fashioned, overwhelmingly male or told completely irrelevant stories to what was happening. So, she changed the logo to a literary leopard. “We’re a forward-thinking brand with modern sensibilities, so it’s an inside joke of us that we’ve made a new standard.” Literature, non-fiction, articles, songwriting, poetry, verse and other influences inspire the vegan, para- ben-free, phthalates-free and PETA-certified cruel- ty-free fragrances. The bottles are made of glass, which can be reused or recycled by removing the cap and any spray parts, including the dip tube. You can also rinse out the glass portion and reuse and recycle it. The bake- lite compression cap is biodegradable and contains no petrochemicals.
