bitetravel Radisson Hotel Group introduces its Radisson brand to the historic UK City of York A city steeped in Roman, Viking and medie- val history and famous for its ancient city walls, York saw the opening of the first Radis- son-branded hotel in the north of England and the second in the UK after Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre at London Heathrow. It was previously known as Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre and rebranded following an impressive transformation to become Radisson Hotel York. Visitors to York will discover the city has more attractions per square mile than any other UK facility. These land- marks include museums, galleries, festivals, and historical and cultural places such as York Minister, the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and The Sham- bles, one of Europe's best-preserved medieval shopping areas featuring cobbled streets and overhanging buildings. Radisson Hotel York was initially built in 1969, an eight-story city centre building on the River Ouse's banks. The second tallest building in York, preceded by York Minster, offers unrivalled city views. It has 200 guest rooms, combining business and leisure amenities, new flooring, furniture and soft furnishings and other self-ser- vice check-in desks. The contemporary décor showcases neutral tones and sleek designs, reflecting the brand's Scandinavian roots. The Paddle Room restaurant is a nod to the history of its location, where boats once passed exchanging goods powered by hand or paddles. Roman jetties, wharves and warehouses have been uncovered on the banks of the Riv- er Ouse. The welcoming and cosy restaurant offers shar- ing plates, including mushroom arancini, salt and pepper squid and local classic Yorkshire pudding. It also serves pub classics such as fish and chips, grazing boards, and vegetarian and vegan options. Radisson Hotel York offers flexible and versatile meeting and function spaces to cater for a wide range of events, including large conferences of up to 400 people, gala din- ners, or training sessions, accompanied by a dedicated onsite meetings and events team. Other hotel facilities include a gym for residents and parking spaces for up to 51 cars. All guest rooms have Chromecast technology to access Netflix and other streaming services. www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-ho- tel-york Images courtesy of Radisson Hotel Group
