The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2023 - Issue 33

bitefashion The inaugural show took place at Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square, London, showcasing ten of the best students selected by the school with six designs each under the theme ‘Sense Datum’, the Latin synonym for enriching and expand- ing the senses. Ho Hong Chang opened with his avant-garde collection entitled ‘The Golden Tick- et’ of oversized cocoon-like hoodies, bombers, parkas and puffer jackets. Charlie and the Choco- late Factory inspired his gathered trousers in gold foil and metallic colours. Guia Dell’osso’s sophisticated, colourful designs told the story of a futuristic fairy tale about a prince ingesting a mushroom and then having vi- sions of himself looking for his princess. A long coat accentuated its rich palette of green and pink with a nude and sheer bodysuit, sleeveless bodice, shorts with a wide hip and rear, and a one-shoul- der top with matching trousers, accompanied by floppy mushroom hats that bobbled as the model walked. There were also injects of black, purple and blue in the collection. Another oversized collection of overcoat, cropped hooded jackets with extra-long sleeves or draped slightly over the head came from Fidan Akbaro- va but with fascinating multi-coloured patterns in circles and squares. One standout piece was an all-white ensemble of a cropped top, a short jack- et with extra-long sleeves, tailored trousers that were tapered at the lower leg, shoes and a bala- clava with a cap that made the model mysterious and space-like. Hannah Trauger’s collection ‘A Child At Heart’ took inspiration from the growth concept and cen- tred on deconstructed used children’s garments. It sought to embody the hard truth of growing up and explored the unique relationship between the child, young adult and elder with an attempt at breaking the traditions. The palette derived from a child’s crayon box demonstrated bright and vi- brant colours such as purple, pink, blue and red in silhouettes of long coats, short dresses, a two- piece cropped top, and trousers accompanied by a checkered head scarf. The opening look of Noam Anidjar Sussman’s col- lection saw a massively oversized black jacket with exaggerated green lapels and an orange tied collar matched with purple floppy trousers that seemed to have a train either on each side. A short-fitted zipped black jacket and oversized orange trousers with combat pockets followed this. I was curious to know the dynamics of this collection, but the designer played with the contrast of pastel and rich colours in oversized ensembles. One exciting style was a long green coat with a transparent or- ange anorak. Ho Hong Chang Guia Dell’osso
