bitecatwalk ISABEL SANCHIS T he enormity of this season’s Isabel Sanchis SS23 collec- tion fascinates me the most. How could one label produce so many drop-dead gorgeous looks in one col- lection? The mind boggles at the genius this woman and her devoted team must possess! To be there while they collab- orate on designs, production and styl- ing at her atelier in Valencia would be a wish come true! This collection held everything for an individual with su- preme style and particularly feminine taste. Classic and elegance do not do this designer’s work justice, no. She’s beyond that with so many of her looks. She has the keen knowledge and eye to execute what ladylike dressing is at its finest. Complete with coordinated col- our-blocked suits for the empowered professional, slinky and alluring silk gowns ideal for that special formal event, the ever-bold statement-mak- ing couture pieces, and even the co- quettishly playful tea-length and mi- ni-dresses were as complete a collection as one could ever hope to see. Sanchis’ rainbow colour palette and use of a plethora of fabric manipulations, such as intricate and precise pleating, bead- work, and flora 3D appliques, can all be seen seamlessly, adding to unique de- signs and silhouettes. One tea-length dress in vibrant car- nelian grabbed my attention with its demure bodice, triple-looped bow and wide bell skirt lined in lime green. An- other stunner was a floor-length gown in a sheer pale gold metallic that had tight chevron pleating, and one white backless, floor-length gown with lace- up detail and hip-high side slit that left no room for ‘anything’ was something worthy of a moment on the carpet at Cannes. My favourite, however, was what could be worn as a truly, one-of-a-kind, takes-a-person-with-impeccable-fash- ion-sense (not to mention guts) to wear what ultimately looks like a pure white rose bloom. The model looked like she had stepped into blossom and is now gliding along, followed by a diaphanous white train.
