The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2022 - Issue 32
bitefashion D iesel’s AW22 show this season was one of the most unique but slightly shocking choices of runway designs I may have ever seen. Glen Martens has been the brand’s crea- tive director for the last two seasons and has used his short time to further develop and promote the label’s primary denim line into something exceptional. However, one should remember that Martens also acts as creative director for Y/Project. He staged the show in a lot on the southern outskirts of Milan. It featured a crimson red carpeted runway that wove itself around gigantic inflated figures in rather exact positions. The looks themselves were just as exposed and erotically derived as well. Every ensemble featured a new fashion take on a denim staple (imagine a typical bomber jacket reconfigured slightly more oversized and made entirely from ultra-faded distressed denim). Leather-sprinkled knitwear and upcycled t-jersey into various handcrafted tops, midi-to-long skirts and bottoms. However, I had stars jumping out of my eyes when I saw the be- yond-amazing repurposed ‘fur’ coats made entirely of decon- structed denim fabrics and then reconfigured into the most in- credible fuzzy, furry-looking coats was jaw-dropping. I will have one of these haute jean jackets in my life or die trying! https://uk.diesel.com/en DIESEL
