The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2022 - Issue 32

Giedre Jackyte interviewed accessory designer CC Mason about her first handbag collection with House of Want. bitebags different from each other in personal style, but I feel like they each represent half of my personality.” The designer revealed a lot of storyboarding goes into prepar- ing for shoots. Firstly, she starts by creating a colour palette of a wide range of complementary colours to the pieces she’s designing. Then she eliminates the colours that are too strong and might overpower the fragments in the imagery. Her favourite colours to work with are shades of pink; she loves the colour so much she has had two pink cars! “Not all of my designs will be pink,” she shared, “but it was the most acces- sible and comfortable place to start.” CC picked three different material combinations for her designs with House of Want. The first was a sweet lilac pink all-over vegan leather with a back pocket, everyday, everybody bag, easy to pair with any outfit and material. Because of the gentle pastel tone, it’s seasonless, allowing you to wear it 24/7, 365 days a year. The second bag, a beautiful true pink with a pink faux-fur inset, is “the fun one.” Since she loves faux fur and sherpa on bags, coats, shoes, and hats, she couldn’t resist the opportunity to include something fun and carefree. The third bag is a warm rose gold with inset sequins, which she considers ‘the glam’ and wishes sequins became a more accept- able everyday wear accessory. Her fashion accessory goals consist of creating an entire brand. “I knew the first step and the best way to learn the ropes was to work with a company like House of Want which was already established.” When asked what advice she would give other aspiring accessory designers, she said, “Just keep on going.” She further added even though it sounds like a cliche, it has taken her years to get to where she is today in her career and feels like she is only getting started. Since she has modelled before, we had to ask who her favour- ite models are and why? “If we’re talking classic models, Dovima and Jean Shrimpton are my top two favourites! They are undeniably iconic and set the trends for models even into the modern day (though some may not realise it)! My modern model pick would be Kate Moss. Why? She’s Kate Moss. Enough said!” Check out CC Mason’s latest accessories collection in collabo- ration with House of Want. The PETA-approved vegan leather H.O.W.
