Cristina Lloyd is fascinatedbyVenini’s over 100 years of glassmaking artistry that has taken their designs across the globe. bitelifestyle M urano Island’s glassmaking industry welcomed the ar- tistic glass company Vetri Soffiati Cappellin Venini & C, founded by Milanese lawyer Paolo Venini and Venetian antiquarian Giacomo Cappelin in 1921. Venetian artist Vittorio Zecchin joined them as artistic director, creating the famous Veronese vase. Its distinctive and stylistic identity has changed traditional schemes, embraced avant-garde and mastered glassmaking techniques. Venini opened stores in Piazzetta dei Leoncini, Venice and Paris the following year, then presented a series designed by Zecchin at the Salon d’Automne and XIII Biennale in Venice with a chandelier placed in the vestibule of the Central Pavilion.
