bitefilmreview M ark Jenkin is an independent Cornish filmmak- er whose work will leave you impressed. The director’s critically acclaimed success arrived after releasing his first feature, Golden Burn, which won the Frank Copplestone First Time Director Award at the Celtic Film and Television Award in 2002. He continued releasing documentaries and low-budget independent feature films like Man Who Needed a Traffic Light, The Rabbit and The Lobsterman, a documentary on the life of Cornish playwright Nick Darke, made through his production company, O-Re- gion, based in Truro, Cornwall. His BAFTA-winning breakout 2019 hit Bait gifted the audience with minimalistic black-and-white work, closely reminiscing the classic silent films. Following the success of this feature, Jenkin created another thought-provoking movie about loneliness and withdrawal from the outside world called Enys Men, which means ‘Stone Island’ in Cornish. This most recent work has proved every talented filmmaker refines and evolves as an artist. The minimalist-style, poetically and lyrically metaphysical film is written and directed by Jenkin, produced by Denzil Monk, and stars Mary Woodvine and Edward Rowe. Film Review
