Before revealing his new look, M Huncho had fans worried after sharing a video showing his dark blue mask burning on the street outside Brixton Academy. The new stage wear features the words ‘Utopia’ and ‘Huncho’ written above and below his right eye and ‘1st’ printed underneath his left eye. “I feel like I reached a space that I haven’t reached before - mentally and spiritually,” he told Rolling Stone UK . “The mask change represents growth, strength, commitment and sheer will.” It was designed by Jamaican-born UK pro skateboarder and artist Lucien Clarke, who has previously collaborated with Virgil Abloh and Louis Vuitton. The rapper revealed his fascination with skating and being a fan of Clarke. “I like old- school Japanese culture, so we envisioned that and returned with the colour I wanted. He [Lucien] said, ‘let me put a signature of some sort on your face with a white marker.’ This mask is me entering my beast mode.” M Huncho spoke highly of the artist, saying, “Lucien Clarke is someone who inspired me with his work, and I had to get him on board as I knew he would understand how I felt.” After he heard the album, Clark sought inspiration to create a new art piece. “I told him what I felt. What I think about a new face, and he was on board,” he added. “Most importantly, he understood where I was coming from. In these misunder- stood environments we are from, sometimes all you need is to be understood.” The album artwork designed in collaboration with east London artist Reuben Dangmoor (who showed his ‘Legends of the Scene’ debut art collection at Tate Britain) shows the rapper floating in his hands against a euphoric backdrop. “This means when life drowns you out, euphoria lies in your hands,” the artist revealed. "But this artwork also represents ultimate happiness can be found in so many places, but ultimately it needs to be found within yourself." Real talk, preacher!
