The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2022 - Issue 31

PANOS Jada Brookes discovers why Panos Emporio founder Panos Papadopoulos is the ‘king of swimwear’ with his beachwear for men. bitemen Swimwear King of man body is inspired by beauty and masters the brightest col- ours and softest, most exclusive fabrics. “The Panos Emporio de- sign is never uninvolved, never indifferent and never every day.” For its 10th anniversary, Panos Emporio released a revolution- ary new beachwear design, the Paillot. This multi-wear ensem- ble, praised and worn by Hollywood stars and passionate fans, could be worn as swimwear, a bikini, mini skirt or a sports outfit. The brand then introduced its first clothing collection for men and women in 2011. Two years later, they opened the 14th Ath- ens Xclusive Designers Week with a sophisticated swimwear collection. An introductory campaign video showed a male and female model frolicking and posing sexily on the beach with the back- drop of the ocean and white sand while modelling varied biki- nis and swimming trunks before the runway models walked the collection. It was perhaps to give the audience a foretaste of what they could expect to see that evening and leave them waiting with bated breath as the lights went out before presenting the first look. The show had a spirit of vibrancy as the female models strutted down the catwalk with a sheer shawl trailing behind them, from side to side, and the male models played it cool. Exotic printed and mismatched bikinis such as the baby blue top and patterned briefs set give wearers the freedom to mix it up. The male models had the authentic beach look with dark shades, bright coloured swim shorts and a matching (or sometimes a different hue) Pa- nos Emporio logo beach towel on their shoulder. Tankinis paired with fitted pants, printed swimsuits, or kaftans worn over beachwear also made their way down the catwalk. Various prints transposed onto the men’s swim shorts before returning to the bikinis, such as the purple and hot pink hal- ter-neck sets. The following print and solid colour apparel were reversed with the print on the bikini bra and then on the briefs on the next look, followed by a fully print look on the third look. It was a vibrant representation that set the tone for fashion week. More delicious beachwear in various styles and patterns graced the catwalk. The finale showed a model walking in a white bikini bra with a high-waist overlap brief, and she stopped halfway to pull it down into a mini skirt. Returning to where she started, she paused with her back turned as two male models ascend- ed from the side to undo her bra straps. She then pulled up the ‘mini skirt’ (after removing her bikini bra) and turned around to walk the strapless swimwear down the runway. It was magical and clever! Today, men’s swim shorts provide an excellent selection, in- cluding Generous in Tortoise Navy, a spacious fit for the man who desires a more relaxed and comfortable look on the beach. The timeless regular fit Classic series consists of Tucan Black with a stylish bird print. Tiles in Light Denim Blue or Soft Yel- low and Llama in Black Forest or Nectarine have an elasticated two-coloured drawstring waistband with logo eyelets and cord endings, two side pockets, a zipped back pocket and a hanger fastened at the waistband in the back. Luxe in Navy or Black Forest and Helios in Black have a regular fit in a quick-dry, lightweight fabric. They are designed with the exact details as the Classic but with plastic endings, a discreet logo table at the right side seam, and an inner pant in mesh lin- ing. Platon in Black, Red or Royal Blue has a loose fit with the usual elasticated drawstring waistband with logo eyelets and cord endings details, two side pockets, a zipped back pocket and the inner pant in mesh lining.
