The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2022 - Issue 31

bitemen ture the traditional loafer to fit in anyone’s wardrobe, regardless of age. “I wanted to create something wearable, versatile, and attention-grabbing by playing with colours and materials.” He explained that people think of loafers as dress shoes and wanted to change that mindset. “When people tell they’ve never owned loafers before, but now they wear them with everything, that’s what I’m going for.” He suggests styling the Ellis Loafer with an awesome white t-shirt and den- im. “I’d tie a bandana around my neck, choose a hat and throw on a denim or a Barbour jacket. A chore jacket dresses things up a bit and creates a streamlined look. The Fonz (from the show Happy Days ) showed us that you couldn’t beat a t-shirt with a perfect fit.” Otherwise, he “mix- es genres into one: streetwear, prep, skater, ‘suburban kid from NJ’. I think there’s a beauty in that and in wearing clothes that are a little worn in.” Other collaborations included the limited-edition Crepe Wedge Loafer for 3Sixteen, whose upper is crafted in a light brown suede with a reverse smooth-out detail on the heel. It has a contrasting golden yellow lining and sits on a layered natural crepe wedge sole. Echevarria designed Lucky Loafer for New York-based artist Cian Moore, a debut piece for his venture with Clover, a novel creative agency. In his photography and directional works, Moore sought to blur the line between art and commerce. Echevarria’s work extends to life-changing forward thinkers such as Let’s Do Better, for whom he created the RGB Loafer. This non-profit organisation focuses on vivid storytelling and creative products to build empathy and understanding while inspiring future generations to create a more just society for the Black diaspora in America. He also designed the Court- side Loafer in partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers. It featured their logo and the B&W icon on the front with their respective years of formation on the back.
