It brings out drama by thick- ening the line (around the eyes) and a look preferred by the late Amy Winehouse. “Inspired, we have gone abstract to create a bold but blended tap on this cult favourite.” This applied make-up brings out the eyes and sultry lips with the signature red lipstick or in a lighter shade. Marie Antoinette, the last Queen of France before the French Revolution, has been a muse for artists, fash- ion designers and make-up artists for many years. Jo- nas Oliver is no exception. The author searched long to find his Marie Antoinette until a Lithuanian actress friend introduced him to a supermodel. “When I met her - OMG! Six foot and in high heels, she looked like a beautiful giant.” The following pages show this model in a series of elaborate period-inspired dresses with soft pastel effective make-up. The nudity pages were an element of surprise. “It's not aggressive; it’s art,” explained the author. “It’s not to shock people; it’s to make people think - to bring Sex - not to scare. To bring out the admiration and courage of people to say, ‘Oh my God, what have you done?’” Jonas uses this opportunity to paint the male models in lipstick kisses or a blue streak from the face down to the penis, with a dark pink hue on the chest and shoulder blades, or a Red Indian-inspired look in a rainbow of colours. Jonas describes his ideas as bizarre, extravagant and avant-garde. The blend and contour of the make-up are immaculate and coordinate with the backdrop or cloth- ing. One of his visions was a black woman in a milk bath decorated with green, yellow and red strips over and across her head, several red and green strips on her right shoulders, dark blue glittery eyeshadow and gold painted lipstick and jewellery. Another look sees the model with a bubbled headpiece, smokey eyeshadow and black lipstick. Colour blending is demonstrated over the following several pages with a rich focus on the palette. A soft pink background is matched with a darker shade disc wrapped around the model’s neck and make-up, with wisps of white. The same vein is repeated with the mod- els in black, red, white and green clothing and make- up. An enriching composition is a model in white; the paleness of her skin with decorative shapes on her face makes her look like a statute.
