bitecatwalk Q ueens-native LaQuan Smith observed his grand- mother and many other female role models as a kid. His family sent him to art school in high school, which was a transformative experience. Unfor- tunately, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Parsons School of Design denied the young creator struggling to find his way into the industry. He then formed an LLC that made LaQuan Smith 3D leggings and became known as the ‘leggings’ guy’. The designer not only modelled it but was also heavily involved in promoting and selling it until celebrities started to wear them.We all know that it takes one star to wear your design for it to reach international success. His exceptional work sparked interest among fashion icons and risk-takers, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Kim Kardashian, all of whom were early supporters. LaQuan Smith unveiled his spring collection at New York’s iconic Empire State Building. This season, the designer introduced another prominent motif, the terrycloth. This fabric featured multiple looks, such as a cropped white robe complete with a belt and embroidered monograms and the twisted and draped dress worn by Jazzelle Zanaughtti, which relied on a similar texture and stomach-bearing silhouettes. https://laquansmith.com SMITH NEW YORK SS/22 FASHION WEEK
