bitecatwalk Del Core presented a very solid beginner’s collec- tion to an already bated audience, and what’s even better, he didn’t disappoint with his delivery. The collection was pristinely designed, tailored and ex- ecuted. Each piece and look flowed together, from one to the next, without so much as a hiccup that one would expect in an inaugural show. Simple, elegant suits, paired with lacy bras featuring sweet mushrooms sewn throughout, popped up under wide, shoulder-padded power blazers, and again as tights under skirt sets with side tie details. Things then moved along to show a few bold coats - look #7 featured a long, decadent, deeply richMerlot purple fur coat with a slightly billowed sleeve. After that showstopper, a few micro blazer dresses with cute rope belts walked, followed by a simple black evening gown and lilac button suit with a huge neck bow, and then, this is where we begin to see those couture roots erupt! Del Core has mentioned that he is deeply inspired by nature, and we only got a glimpse of that with the mushroom lace… little did we know that mushroomwould be the crown to this collection in my opinion. Look #13 was something that made me stop and rewind several times just to see how this sensual, coquettish blood ruby-red gown with train walked. Utter, utter glamour! And to top it off, the most adorable and yet sexy, matching red mushroom cap sat atop the model’s head as the most perfectly placed complement to such a dress. It all reminded me so much of the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Funny Face when gliding down the stairs at the Lou- vre in front of the statue of David. The final looks of the showcase were what drove home his talent in designing haute couture dresses and gowns. Look #20 was like a beautiful mash-up of what was the ever-popular ‘80s-‘90s silhouette ankle-length fishtail heart neckline dress that Del Core spectacularly encrusted with thousands of shimmering crystals and superhero-like structured winged sleeves. The remaining 19 looks were each more fanciful than its predecessors, with the nature theme of mushrooms, blossoms and floral prints, dramatic plumage trim detailing, and more crystal beadwork growing in exaggeration and prominence with each passing model, not to mention the use of a few very noteworthy facial masks. All in all, it was a fantastic initial showing of what Del Core is capable of as a budding designer, and I honestly can’t wait for the mushroom hat to become an evening wear trend! https://delcore.com
