bitecars T aking its name from the Maserati Corse, which celebrates the marque’s return to racing and 2020, the year of its world premiere, the new two-seater MC20 super sports car com- bines performance, sportiness and luxury in unique Mase- rati style. This worthy successor to the MC12 represents the start of the Italian marque’s new era and pushes the boundaries of time, rac- ing audaciously into a brave new future. Although it first debuted in 2020, the MC20 will be available in late 2021 as a 2022 model. Intriguingly beautiful and savvy, every model reserved for 2022 has been sold out, showing the significant popularity of the first halo car Maserati has built since the MC12 debuted 16 years ago. Thanks to its carbon fibre monocoque, the first in a Maserati, the MC20 is an astonishingly lightning-fast featherlight for supreme performance. Its mid-engined, fast forward capacity ensures that the light MC20 body has a prodigious power to weight ratio, for a jaw-dropping accelera- tion and top speed. What Drives This Power Model? Built with incredible aerodynamic efficiency and a sporty soul, the new twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine produces 630 hp with a torque of 730 Nm. This patented technology engine, derived from Formula 1, signals Maserati’s return to producing its own power units after a hiatus of more than 20 years to deliver 0-60 mph in an in- credible 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph. With an extremely lightweight measure of less than 1,500 kg, it produces a best in class weight/power ratio of 2.33 kg/hp. The Nettuno (Italian for Neptune) is the first engine in the new chap- ter of the marque’s history that puts the MTC (Maserati Twin Com- bustion) technology, the groundbreaking combustion system devel- oped in-house, onto the world’s roads. It took a record 24 months to produce the MC20 design that involved a team of Maserati Inno- vation Lab engineers, Maserati Engine Lab technical specialists and Maserati Style Centre designers. No longer under the shadow of Ferrari, Maserati returns to the supercar segment with the new high-performance two-seater MC20 coupé admired by Jada Brookes. Images courtesy of Maserati
