Fendi’s vibes spoke for itself and introduced the upbeat, energetic and optimistic contemporary man searching for the values of normality, positivity, and the need for comfort in durable, timeless luxury pieces. Apart from a set where the lighting reflect- ed the evolving palette of the details, the approach was straightforward and concise, conceived with a mobile-first mentality; the video felt immediate and punchy. The flashing lights — and the soundtrack melding electronic beats and snippets of the designer speaking — set a fast, hypnotic rhythm. A technicolour fantasy emerged both contemporary and traditional; the menswear collection encapsulated a spectrum of colour and fun. Saffron, cobalt, emer- ald and orange brightened the runway, alluding to an element of hope. At the same time, black, camel and charcoal played the continual role of effortless ele- gance due to their understated effect in clothes. In the middle of the lightning-fast show, black out- fits splashed with a multicolour print developed by British artist Noel Fielding, drew naïf tangles of colourful threads. They seemed to symbolise the complexity and confusion of these unsettling times but left an impression of brightness and hope. Re- versible shearling duffle coats, trench coats and shirt jackets all worked in neutral, exuded timeless mascu- line elegance. These were paraded beside bold mon- ochromatic outfits in orange, yellow, blue, green and pink: padded baggy shorts and anoraks with diagonal quilting, and cloud-like puffers cut in the shape of robe coats. www.fendi.com/gb
