Although their ethos has always been centred around functional and per- formance-driven collections that do not compromise on style or comfort, the brand wanted to do more.  After a year of meticulous research and development, the Eco-Aware collection range stripped back the solvents and chemicals used within the standard manufacturing process for leather-based footwear. From theVibram Ecostep recy- cled rubber soles to cork bottom fillers, to selecting local raw materials from CF Steads, whose tonnage is metal and chrome-free, components have been assessed and altered where possible, to allow for a more ecologically sound product.The traditional process of Goodyear welt construction is utilised, allowing for the shoes to be fully refurbished multiple times. The Sherwood Chukka Boot, Delamere Oxford Brogue, Dalby Derby and Swinley Double Buckle Monk Shoe in Brown Stead Eco-Buck Suede is modelled on a 125 last, originally developed in 2011, with a classic but excep- tionally versatile shape, F (Average) width fitting and fully leather lined with full leather insole. They are also equipped with a Goodyear welted Vibram Ecostep Recy- cled Rubber Studded Sole and packaged in recycled cardboard shoe boxes and cotton shoe bags. For AW21, the Cheaney collection features timeless styles that have been re-imagined for a more rugged edge. It encapsulates the joy of embracing outdoor adventures, with the styles featuring robust cleated and stacked rubber soles for durability, military-inspired combat boots with ski-hook fastenings for comfort and muted earth tones for wearability. The hefty double Dainite, treaded Vi-Lite rubber and water-resistant Commando soles with tex- tured and grained leather finishes dominate the collection. Designed for both men and women, the collection pulls inspiration from the brand’s celebratory 142 Aviator Collection that pays homage to military boots inspired by aviation. Renowned for its strength and distinctively vintage appearance, Kudu leather was incorporated along- side traditional smooth and grained leather options to give a varied offering of textures and finishes. All the styles can be fully restored after considerable wear using Cheaney’s refurbishment service.
