A s the featured soundtrack for the up- coming 20th Century Studio film The King’s Man which, like many movies, had their release date pushed back because of the pandemic, FKA Twigs and Central Tee debut their collaborative single ‘Measure of a Man’. The music video directed by Diana Kunst incorporates exclusive footage from the film. The King’s Man itself is directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Ar- terton, Tom Hollander, Matthew Goode, Harris Dickinson, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance. The film sees a collection of history’s worst ty- rants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions; one man must race against time to stop them. Here, we discover the origins of the first independent intelligence agency in The King’s Man. Based on the comic book The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the story is by Matthew Vaughn and the screenplay is written by the director and Karl Gajdusek. The King’s Man opens in theatres on 22 December 2021. Speaking about the collaborative track, singer FKA Twigs said, “This song has such a different sound which is a challenge [but] you’ve got to really embody the song. For me especially with my vocals, I had to pull out a different side of my artistry.” British rapper Central Cee added, “What I listen to when it comes to trying to find beats is something theatrical, it needs to sound like a movie. And that’s exactly what’s going on with this song, it sounds like it’s made for a movie regardless.” ‘Measure of a Man’ opens with FKA Twigs’ cinematic and arresting vocals as she lures us into a hypnotic R&B fuelled beat before hand- ing over to Central Cee who adds his dynamic touch as he floats across the track. It has all the ingredients of a movie soundtrack and could probably suit a James Bond film thanks to FKA Twigs’ seductive and alluring voice as she takes on the characters of a sword fighter and a sophisticated sexy woman as she sauntered seductively on top of a floating giant gold ring. Active in the music industry since 2012, FKA Twigs has established herself as one of the most innovative artists, performers, producers and directors of her generation. Magdalene was declared one of the best albums of 2019 by NPR, The Guardian, The New Yorker, Billboard, Loud & Quiet, The USA Today and others. She has taken a complete approach to every facet of her art and career, and has been honoured with a Webby Special Achievement Award for her “incredible contributions to digital culture.” Since he dropped his breakout single ‘Loading’ in October 2020, Central Cee’s rise to success has been exponential. He counts two UK Top 10 singles, a further three Top 20s and over 600 million global streams as profound accom- plishments.
