his continuous pandemic has seen at least some joyous events in the world this year, such as the inauguration of President Joe Biden, ousting out troublesome President Trump, who caused havoc after refusing to accept electoral defeat. In addition, Princess Eugenie and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, gave birth to their first and second child, respectively, and Princess Beatrice is currently pregnant with her first child. However, not so joyous was the passing of Prince Phillip in April before his 100th birthday milestone. In the past few months, we have had some kind of ‘normal’ with the government’s ‘roadmap out of lockdown’ allowing non-essential businesses such as restaurants, bars and pubs, gyms, hairdressers, and cinemas to open but not yet theatres and other relaxing rules included in the final phrase pushed back to 19 July from the June date. However, the job market is still affected, and the economy is seemingly recovering from the global pandemic interruption. Thankfully, in this issue, we were able to bring you three restaurant reviews: Italian tapas at Como Garden in High Street Kensington with a design setting inspired by the gardens of Lake Como in Italy, and Indian cuisines at Flora Indica in Chelsea, influenced by the Scottish botanists who travelled through India in the Victorian era and Chef Patron Dayashankar Sharma’s Heritage Dulwich, with rich and traditional inspired cooking re-imagined into modern Indian dining. We were treated to the colourful and diverse works of Moroccan-Londoner artist Hassan Hajjaj whose My Rockstars exhibition was shown at the Yossi Milo Gallery in New York from 25 March to 12 June 2021 and featured in the New York Times . We learn more about actor and director Joey Ansah whose fight scene in The Bourne Ultimatum with Matt Damon received an MTV Award nomination in the ‘Best Fight’ category. And discover how cultural issues such as race, identity and socio-political dilemmas can pose questions in the short film Tribes. As cinemas re-open and re-scheduled films released, we provide our film screening reviews of the highly anticipated horror-thriller A Quiet Place Part II and action-adventure anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train. Also, don’t forget to check out our usual hand-picked new film releases, including the action-packed Black Widow and F9, heart-rendering Spirit Untamed, soul searching Land and supernatural mystery thriller Old . We also find out the story behind rapper G-Eazy’s high profile relationships with two fellow artists and his rep as a ladies man, as well as his rise to stardom through influences, hard work and perseverance.
