He took me down the stairs to the smaller rooms that used to be staff quarters back in the 1930/40s. “We empower others to become more of themselves,” he said. As I admired the corridors painted by Ted, we entered one of the larger rooms at the end of the hall, and I noticed the significant writing on the wall: “Are you a friend of Ted?” The artist explained the meaning of this question by asking me to replace his name with mine to read, “Are you a friend of Giedre? Who is your best friend?” This question made me do some soul searching, and I would encourage you to take a moment and ask yourself the same question. He continued with questions throughout the tour of his art studio. “How does it make you feel?” he asked whenever he showed me his work. “Above words are feelings,” he explained. It is more important how it makes you feel than how it looks. “Beauty is what you consider beautiful.” Recently, due to the popularity of Ted Stourton’s art, the fam- ily embarked on a complete historic restoration of Camelot Castle and the surrounding estates. This saw the opening of the Golden Age Bar and The Explorers Tea Room, which welcomed in even more guests. The complete restoration of the Camelot Castle Ballroom - The Infinity Salon or Blue Room - as it is now called, is a spectacular and award-win- ning example of Victorian and Edwardian architecture. It has set the standard to which the family will restore every part of Camelot Castle and its estate. “Over the coming months and years, guests will see a total and detailed restoration of every aspect of this castle. This is made possible, in part, by the collectors of Ted Stourton’s art, who themselves, through their patronage, become part of this great purpose,” the own- ers shared. Irina's restaurant offers a delectable menu with very deli- cious, organic food through locally grown ingredients. A wide choice of cuisine with a British and European twist provides an excellent selection of meat, poultry, fish and veg- etarian options. Although the food was served in the hotel rooms due to Covid-19 restrictions, it arrived promptly, hot and delicious. The menu also has a great choice of wines to accompany the meals, and if you fancy something more sub- stantial from the bar, there is a wide variety of spirits. One of the many reasons I plan to come back to Camelot Castle Hotel is because you could not indulge in outdoor ac- tivities such as hiking, exploring the beach caves, or jumping into the Atlantic ocean after laying on sandy beaches because of the pandemic restrictions. I am genuinely hoping that the world will ‘reopen’ very soon so that I can come back to both Camelot Castle and Cornwall to take full advantage of everything it has to offer to its guests. There is probably no finer Castle-like-hotel in England than Camelot, and I would encourage you to experience its mag- ic for yourself. Beauty, creativity, authenticity is bursting through every corner of the hotel in such a way that makes you feel ecstatic, empowered, revitalised and wanting to be- come the best version of yourself. Camelot is a mesmerising place with a tranquil coastline to recharge from the depths of your soul, where nature and wind will thread through you and make you stop and appre- ciate the exquisite and magical force of life.
