bitecars Adopted from the AMG GT family, the AMG Performance steer- ing wheel is characterised by its sporty design, a flattering bottom section with a heavily contoured rim and intuitive operation. It is fully trimmed in DINAMICA microfibres, while the steering wheel badge exclusively features the Black Series lettering, along with the AMG logo. The integrated Touch Control buttons can control the instrument cluster and the multimedia display using horizontal and vertical finger swipes. The two freely configurable display buttons and additional switch- es on the left side that allow the driver to fully concentrate on high-speed driving without taking their hands off the wheel can be controlled directly on the steering wheel. Each required func- tion can be depicted by a display icon, which the driver can set using the respective switch. With just a finger tap, the individually preferred AMG functions can be precisely defined, and the set- tings changed sufficiently. With the new Black Series, there are two packages available - the AMG Interior Night Package, which comes as standard, and the AMG Track Package which is available as an option in several markets worldwide, excluding the USA, Canada, and China. In the AMG Interior Night Package, the shift paddles, steering wheel spokes and seat insert in the optional AMG Performance seats are finished in high-gloss black, while the door sill panels are in black brushed stainless steel. The AMG Track Package comprises a roll-over protection system, four-point seatbelts for driver and front passenger and a 2 kg fire extinguisher. You will discover that the lightweight bolted titanium-tube cage of the roll-over protection systems consist of the main roll bar, a brace for mounting the seat belts, two rear braces, and a diagonal X-brace at the rear. The method fur- ther increases the already excellent ve- hicle rigidity and positively influences the vehicle's driving dynamics. On the Outside The carbon-fibre front splitter on the AMG GT Black Series adapted to meet various track requirements is equipped with two manually adjustable settings - Street and Race. When extended forward in the Race position, a front diffuser in the shape of a reversed wing profile is then created under the front section. This element is lowered even further, depending on the driving speed, by the rising negative pressure, which significantly accelerates the underbody’s airflow to create a ‘Venturi effect’. As this draws the car closer to the road and increases downforce on the front axle, the driver can feel the benefits in the steering. This enables the Black Series to be steered even more precisely when cornering at high speeds and exhibits even better directional stability. During fast cornering and under high lateral acceleration, the vehicle delivers an agile response with clear steering-wheel feedback while remaining easily controllable at all times. The car is built with a new carbon-fibre bonnet and the two large exhaust air outlets are made from black finished carbon surfaces. The large outlets guide the warm air, fed from the diagonally po- sitioned cooling pack, out of the engine compartment. It reduces the air resistance and optimises the air mass flow for cooling the engine. The air is also specifically guided around the A-pillars and side windows to the rear, increasing the efficiency of the new rear aerofoil concept. Images courtesy of Mercedes-AMG
