The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29

Andrés Sardá biteswimwear Andrés Sardá sadly passed away on 15 September 2019, at the age of 90, but left behind an unparalleled legacy that will be kept alive forever. He also celebrated women’s free and triumphant femininity that we are eternally thankful for. His daughter, Nuria, artistic director of the brand, has stayed true to her father's spirit and continues to create the most exquisite pieces of lingerie and swimwear that we love and adore season after season. This season’s swimwear collection is inspired by rebellion and revolution to which the brand responds, “We felt the world needed to react to survive.” They kept signifi- cant female figures in mind that have helped or are still helping to change the world through acts of resistance and freedom. All the series are named after role models such as Hedy Lamarr, Elsa Schiaparelli, Megan Rapinoe, and Tarsila Do Amaral. “Nature has been ahead of us, disrupt- ing the plans worldwide in a way we couldn’t foresee.” Andrés Sardá also reintroduced some of the lingerie series from Winter 2020 and gave it a fresh summer look. “They were inspired by endangered species, noble and strong creatures. Now, both seasons are clearly connected in the concept of RESILIENCE. Resilience in NATURE and PEOPLE! Resilience is the quality that helps living organisms improve themselves in tough environments. These passionate women with extraordinary lives and the beautiful animals reigning over nature share that same strength.” Megan, in navy, white and red stripes, is made from knit- ted fabric created in collaboration with another Spanish supplier. The brand name logo appears discreetly in the white band via the jacquard process. A gold metal anchor chain closes the mid-front or decorates the strap depend- ing on the style. This staple piece is available in a Full Cup Padded Bikini Top, Triangle Padded Halter Bikini, Triangle Padded Swimsuit, Strapless Padded Bikini Top, Rio Bikini Briefs and Waist Ropes Bikini Briefs. Transferred to the SS21 collection, Imagine, in Rainbow, a psychedelic combination of soft tones and Marine, a subtle blend of navy blue and ecru hues, is in the same segment as Megan. It's made from crochet and combined with Millefoglie fabric to provide lightweight, elasticity and comfort. The Imagine Dress, an ankle-length sleeve- less tunic dress with side cuts, is described as stunning in the summer and marks an explicit nod to the hippie-chic world. The Balcony Padded Bikini Top has interior cups that create a rounded shape and centre the breasts naturally. In contrast, the Strapless Padded Bikini Top shapes the breasts without any apparent interior construction. Both are available in the fresh, bright and sophisticated Rain- bow and the slightly more subtle Marine that can be worn with the elegant and on-trend Rio Bikini Briefs or the Waist Ropes Bikini Briefs with adjustable side ties. Adichie in a rich, earthy caramel tone Brandy or warm high sea Crazy Blue is the mid-range solid colour line crafted from two combined Italian fabrics. Azotto on the outside is soft, thin and smooth and Millefoglie on the inside is strong and adaptive. Its drapes construction is placed differently depending on the garment, and specific styles bear a large gold metal ring decoration which brings character and beautiful simplicity to the swimwear. The Triangle Halter Padded Bikini has the halter tied around the neck. Special Swimsuit has removable cups and a large decorative ring, and the lining in the Swimsuit Removable Pads streamlines the figure and breasts. Full Images courtesy of Andrés Sardá
