The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29

Jada Brookes experienced the sensory fragrances of Yú Parfums Edition II Chapters IV, V and VI and chose Chapter VI as her favourite scent. T he sound of a bustling city, the glow of the sun bursting into daybreak, the therapeutic hum of a forest or an inspired surrounding; these life experiences may evoke a memory or emotion from a specific moment in time. Yú Parfums, a perfume membership service with gender-neutral scent editions created by renowned perfumers, capture these emotions and stories into chapters that deliver intrigue, drama and indulgence. Every two months, three fragrance chapters are created to provide perfume aficionados with the opportunity to discover exclusive scents. “Curious, bold and original in their composition, our fragrances begin the story of your day.” These unique aromas narrated by the brand’s global team of perfumers source vegan and cruelty-free ingredients from inter- national growers and create olfactory experiences that are uncompromising in creativity. Fragrance lovers can set up a bi-monthly, 6-month or 12-month subscription to receive these exclu- sively curated scents in a recyclable edition box that is letterbox friendly. Each edition contains 3 x 10 ml gender-neutral perfume chapters, one refill- able atomiser and nine scent sticks. This is perfect for people who do not have a specific scent in mind and wish to try out different fragrances throughout the year to develop a fragrance library. Yú Parfums has six perfume authors: Alexan- dra Kosinski, Christian Provenzano, Claudine de Vogel, Dominique Preysass, Julie Pluchet, and Olivier Maurel. Through an admiration for nature that stemmed from her childhood, Alexandra Kos- inski’s career in perfumery allowed her to recreate nature with fragrances. She holds a master’s degree in Chemistry and completed her perfumery training at ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International Du Parfum de la Cosmétique et de L’Aromatique) in Versailles, France. Christian Provenzano is an inspirational perfumer with a passion and dedication for fragrances with decades of creative experience. He is recognised as an authority on Oriental and Arabic fragrances and has created award-winning scents for internally recognised businesses. Claudine de Vogel’s earli- est memories are associated with aromas: the Eau Imperiale, her grandfather, sprinkled on his handker- chiefs and the smell of unlit Gitane cigarettes. She gained first-hand experience through family working in the fragrance industry in Grasse, in the south of France. A prolific fine-fragrance perfumer whose work stands out for its precision, beauty and power, Dominique Preysass is an extraordinary techni- cian. After obtaining his degree in Chemistry, he abandoned a scientific path and studied a further three years at ISIPCA to pursue his passion for art and composition. The perfumer follows all the latest trends through his love of travelling and his role as an active member of the Société Française des Parfumeurs. Julie Pluchet grew up in the French countryside in a family passionate about nature which has been an endless source of inspiration for her creations. She graduated with a Master of Chemistry in 2003 and started working in the perfume industry in Grasse. Born in Grasse, the world’s fragrance capital and now based in Paris, Olivier Maurel loves to create ambient fragrances. He enjoys challenging people by creating hybrids of niche style fine fragrances with a functional aspect. Launched in November 2020, Yú Parfums Edition I Discovery Set consists of 3 x 10 ml of fragrance chapters I, II and III. Chapter I sees cedar take centre stage and stripped from its innate dry edge. “A bare cedarwood smoothed with suede textures, layers of oriental spices and balsamic undertones; it feels like dancing [to] a slow, indulgent song.” The gentle meditative incense smokes, and vanilla nuances add depth to the liqueur-brown sugar of oak wood. Chapter II is a fragrance built on contrast. The roundness of sandalwood morphs into a sharp woody freshness mimicking a lush and verdant forest. “It is like breathing the crisp air of an early morning.” The coniferous effect resonates with bitter and herbaceous hints of bergamot tea, minty-rose shades of geranium and the humid grassy effect of violet leaf. The background holds a mysteri- ous woody character with light smokey and mossy undertones. biteperfume NAME YOUR CHAPTER
