bitewatches L ocated in the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where the heart of Swiss watchmaking is still prominent, watch brand Angelus dates back nearly 130 years and is one of the most influential horological manufacturers of the last cen- tury. The brand was founded by brothers Albert and Gustav Stolz in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1891, whose pioneering, in-house developed movements and timepieces have been universally hailed and coveted by collectors all over the world. Angelus are pioneers of the exceptional chronograph and multi-com- plication wristwatches, multi-display travel clocks with long power reserves, and alarm watches. They were the first brand to create a wristwatch chronograph with a calendar in 1942 which they called the Chronodato, followed by the Chrono-Datoluxe in 1948 which fea- tured the very first effective date in a chronograph wristwatch. It was also the first series chronograph wristwatch with a digital calendar long before it became standard in watchmaking. In 1956, the Datalarm was the first wristwatch to feature both alarm and date function, and two years later, the Tinkler, deemed a cult timepiece, was the first automatic and fully waterproof repeater wrist- watch. Angelus went on to become recipients of awards from inter- national exhibitions including Paris and Lille, France in 1902; Liège, Belgium in 1905; Milan, Italy in 1906; Bern, Switzerland in 1914; and Philadelphia, the United States in 1926.
