bitemusicceleb W hen The Pussycat Dolls announced their reunion on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden after going their separate ways a decade ago and backed it up with a performance on The X Factor: Celebrity in No- vember 2019, people asked: “why did they split in the first place?” Some reported there was growing tension between the girls due to lead singer Nicole Scherzinger taking centre stage on tracks, in music videos, and on stage. Others said they were looking to pursue solo careers. The first to leave the group was Carmit Bachar in 2008. Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts, and Nicole Scherzinger followed suit two years later. Speaking to radio personality and television host Ryan Seacrest in 2010, Nicole said, “A couple of the girls have left the group because they want to do their own projects and stuff. It’s up to them what they want to do, and I just think, whatever makes them happy; we’ve been at it for a strong six years.” True to their word, the former dolls did pursue solo careers. Carmit caught the acting bug and starred in several films including 13 Going On 30, Along Came Polly, The Scorpion King, as well as Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle with the rest of The Pussycat Dolls. Jessica released several solo singles and featured on other artists’ tracks too. Kimberley also started a solo singing career, releasing a couple of singles, and won BBC One’s Celebrity MasterChef in 2015. Ashley launched her debut solo album, Butterfly Effect in 2014. She also appeared on several British television shows including I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, Dancing on Ice, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Jump, and Strictly Come Dancing. Nicole, perhaps the most successful of the girls, won the tenth season of Dancing with the Stars and became a judge on The Sing-Off, as well as the US and UK versions of The X Factor . She had a massive chart-top- ping music career and appeared in several films. Melody Thornton, who took part in Dancing on Ice in 2019, told presenter Lorraine Kelly about her time in the group YCAT DOLLS React
