Another market place is Torvehallerne, located close to Nørreport Station, with more than 80 shops serving Danish delicacies, local vegetables, fresh fish, and Italian specialities. Others to consider are Værftets Madmarked in Elsinore, Tivoli Food Hall in Tivoli Gardens, the Bridge Street Kitchen located between Christianhavn and Nyhavn, and Malmö Saluhall, walking distance from Malmø station. Copenhagen has a magnificent transportation system, stun- ning churches, and museums. One of the most iconic land- marks is the National History Museum of Denmark beautifully located in the corner of the Botanical Garden close to Nørre- port Station. To get access to all three museums - the National History Museum, the Zoological Museum and the Palm House in the Botanical Garden - at the same time, it’s suggested visi- tors get one ticket which is valid for 48 hours. The National History Museum presents a variety of exhibitions including permanent displays such as The Mineral Exhibition to temporary exhibitions like King of Dinosaurs scheduled to open in June 2020. Last year, Fashioned From Nature which premiered at the V&A Museum in London, was shown in Copenhagen as the first stop on the tour. It featured exclusive clothing and accessories including an elegant cotton dress from 1869 adorned with sparkling green beetle wing cases and a garment by Alexander McQueen. The Botanical Garden is part of the National History Museum at the University of Copenhagen. It holds the largest collection of living plants in Denmark while the Herbarium houses the largest collection of preserved plants in the country. It also has a spirit collection, a wood collection, an economic botany col- lection, and a seed bank. Here, you will find the Palm House and the Butterfly House which also holds several exhibitions and activities all-year-round, as well as guided tours. Palm House, which takes its inspiration from the cast-iron and plate-glass Crystal Palace originally built in Hyde Park, London to house the Great Exhibition of 1851, is located in the middle of the Botanical Garden with magnificent views of the garden as well as the spires and towers of Copenhagen from its terrace. Immerse yourself in peaceful and green surroundings, providing a quiet haven from the traffic and noise of the city, while being mesmerised by the green oasis of subtropical and tropical plants. The Butterfly House, part of the Palm House complex, is an- other ethos of nature where you can experience the butterflies’ life and transformation up close. In the summer, the butterflies flutter amongst the orchids and vanilla plants and in the win- ter, visitors can witness the spectacular botanical collection in the Palm House. Interestedly, these beautiful creatures are very sensitive, and can tell us directly if there is something wrong with nature. For lovers of animals, Copenhagen Zoo is a must-visit where you can meet more than 4,000 fascinating animals and travel between continents in one day. Here you can get familiar with the giant pandas while dining in the state-of-the-art Panda House, have a close encounter with the polar bears, and see the world from a giraffe’s perspective. Visitors can discover lots of animal facts and enjoy a meal from their grand selection of food stalls. There is also a variety of new restaurants to dine at in Copenhagen Zoo. Another place visitors should cross off their bucket list whilst in Copenhagen is the Tivoli Gardens amusement park which was founded in 1843. It was visited by Hans Christian Ander- sen many times and also by Walt Disney who found inspira- tion for his own Disney World here. With exotic architecture, historic buildings, and lush gardens, you will find your own piece of magic, and at night thousands of coloured lights create a unique fairy tale atmosphere.
