bite theatre With her heart broken, Jane flees from the house and has to fend for herself financially elsewhere but it isn’t easy. She finds refuge with St John Rivers who is a clergyman and his sister. He asks Jane to accompany him on a mission field as his wife but she refuses and ends up back in the arms of Mr. Rochester again. By this time, his first wife had set the house on fire and killed herself and he had become blind. Yet Jane still loves him and they finally get married. An intriguing play with fantastic acting from Madeleine Worral and Felix Hayes as well as the rest of the cast; several of the en- semble had to play two or more parts. Mag- gie Tagney played Jane’s aunt, Mrs. Reed and the housekeeper of Thornfield Hall, Mrs. Fairfax; Craig Edwards played the director of Lowood Institution, Mr. Brocklehurt, Pi- lot the dog, and Mr. Rochester’s friend, Ma- son; Laura Elphinstone played Helen Burns, Adele, the maid Grace Poole, and St John Rivers; and Simone Saunders played Bessie, Blanche Ingram, and St John’s sister, Diana.
