be with her family and friends. She also recently tied the knot with her long-term boyfriend, photographer Kove Lee on 13th August 2019 in Bali. The wedding was a bit untraditional as she wore a sheer black lace dress and boots, while the guests wore all-white. Her look, perhaps, was inspired by her love for comic books and anime, as told to Janelle Okwodu of Vogue.com in March 2016. A fan of comics, RPG games, and binge-watching her favourite anime, Choi spends her off-time immersed in her hobbies. “I love video games — especially RPG games with cool graphics. I don’t have any favourites, but I really like League of Legends, Blade & Soul, and Warcraft. RPG games are very popular in Korea!” In addition to these games, manga title Nana holds a special place in her heart. “It has inspired my style a lot,” says the model. “[ Nana ] is a story about two girls who become best friends when they move in together in Tokyo. One is a singer in a punk rock band and the other is a small-town girl who comes to Tokyo for college and her boyfriend. Both of the girls have the same first name, Nana. The manga follows their lives and chases their dreams — the illustrations are beautiful, and the styling is so cool and very inspirational to me.” Choi having gained so much experience and notoriety as a top model has now also become a street-style star in her own right, and is often featured on hot and best-dressed lists. Her personal style seems to be somewhat based on her love of comic books, with a spunky, punky yet girly vibe - lots of black with rock ’n’ roll details and lace. And a rock star she is! This tall, graceful model has taken the fashion world on and given zero F’s as it seems when it comes to shying away from too much work or the demands of the job. No, she seems to be willing to do what needs to be done and do it all the while looking utterly incredible! Sora Choi has proven that there are many faces to what’s beauti- ful, that there is no ‘perfect mould’. She may be a self-committed comic geek who never really wanted a career in fashion, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t won the hearts of the industry and is now one of the most glamorous supermodels today. With diversity increasing in the modelling industry, Dawn Hunt looks at South Korean Sora Choi’s modelling career and finds out how the comics and video games fan decided to ditch her ambitions of becoming an artist to become a model instead. bite model profile
