When the two singers started hanging out in 2009 and 2010 before going public as a couple at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in February 2011, Gomez experienced love for the first time. In September 2011, Bieber reportedly rented out the Staples Centre in Los Angeles for the couple’s date night, which included a candlelit dinner on the court, followed by a private screening of Titanic . He later tweeted, “Romance [isn’t] dead. Treat your lady right fellas.” The first break-up initiated by Gomez came two years later in November 2012, with a source saying, “With them being apart so much it got complicated. She had some trust issues. It’s not easy, but the relationship needed to end.” However, a few days later, they were seen having dinner together al- though the reunion still led to an uncoupling. Gomez opened up about the break-up when she appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in March 2013 while Bieber posted throwback pictures of them together. Soon after, perhaps following Bieber’s caption which read, “You’ve been making music for too long babe come cuddle - her” the couple reportedly reconciled. Gomez is said to have travelled to Oslo, Norway to be with him during his perfor- mance. “They were holding hands, hugging, and they kissed on the lips,” said the source. “They looked really in love like no fights ever happened before. It definitely looked like they were back together.” It didn’t last long but in September 2014, Bieber confirmed the duo were back on again during his legal deposition for as- saulting a paparazzi. Again this was short-lived when Gomez confirmed their break-up in November 2014 with her single ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’ and revealed the song was about Bieber to Ryan Seacrest. “He thought it was beautiful. I think it was really hard.” The following month, Bieber posted a series of snapshots while on vacation with model Hailey Baldwin but denied they were together. Gomez moved on with Anton Zedd after they collaborated on her hit single “I Want You to Know” and started dating in March 2015. “He’s this cute little German, and he’s got really beautiful eyes, and he’s very sweet and funny,” she told Radio Disney. The romance was short-lived but there were no hard feelings between them. “I adore Anton a lot and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice,” she said during a July 2015 interview. She found romance again with singer The Weeknd in January 2017, which lasted ten months. If that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care.” Shortly before The Weeknd ended their relationship in Octo- ber 2017, there were reports that Gomez and Bieber had been attending church together and were photographed by TMZ grabbing breakfast at a café in Westlake Village, California in the same month. They were also seen bike riding together and Gomez cheering Bieber on at his hockey game while wearing his New Jersey Devils hockey jersey. An insider close to the pair said Bieber was determined to regain her trust and win back her heart. The pair dated low-key for a while and were said to be trying to learn from past mistakes and not put any pressure on each other so that things would be different and more mature. However, March 2018 was the last time the couple was seen publicly together. In June 2018, Bieber started dating Hailey Baldwin and later married the model in September of the same year. The following year, they married again in a reli- gious ceremony in South Carolina in September 2019.
