These were the characters that in- spired Private Policy’s AW19 collection Money vs. Human London Fashion Week Men’s presented by GQ. An explo- ration of our capitalist society, obsessions with money and consumption, it highlighted the challenges, expectations of youth and the imprisonment of money. The collection began with the robber, showcasing mod- els with their hands tied, wearing balaclavas and necklines stuffed with money and plastered against their mouth, sym- bolic of the idea of consumption. The collection felt youthful- ly charged, an honest interpretation of an important factor in today’s society. The designer’s personality was felt through- out the stylish compositions of the garments. An edgy and unique collection of backpack strap harnesses, hardware de- tails, and privacy policy logos were stamped over the heart. A unifying detail was a single metal hoop between the shoulder blades on every outfit. Utility details were a key focus, as with the overall trend this season. Silhouette inspiration came from traditional work- wear clothing, police uniforms, and office suits. Two-piece military-style outfits in camel felt refined and sophisticated with unique dungaree strap details while military-style trou- sers and denim workwear also played a large role in the com- position of the collection; a take on the traditional ‘manly’ clothing with a modern flair, exposed flesh and an introduc- tion of a traditionally ‘feminine’ colour palette. Bright corals and salmon pinks offered the contrast and re- bellion to the standardised male palette. A pistachio suit felt fresh and chic. Harnesses were worn over the top of light puffer jackets, subtle in terms of detail but a fitting addition to the collection’s concept. Heavy chain details were added to hats hanging down like a helmet strap, falling over the col- larbone like a necklace. A number of adaptable details within this collection really challenged the structure of clothing and expressed personality and a protest against an obsessed so- ciety through clothing. http://www.privatepolicyny.com
