The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2019 - Issue 26

A series of graphic displays break into our stratosphere to launch this season’s AW19 lingerie and swimwear collection from Andrés Sardà. Sadly, the founder passed away this September at the age of 90 years old. However, his legacy and work will be continued by his daughter, Nuria Sardà in her new role as Artistic Director for the brand. Sardà’s earth-shatteringly beautiful designs personify the charac- teristics of the zodiac, using central themes from astrology and the classical elements of Air, Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. For example, Sardà represents the themes of sea and water by com- bining loose netting and delicate detailing of embezzlement with clear netting draped over the models. Other more literal forms of the zodiac are signified with crab claws and suggestive animal print fabrics draped over the models’ collar bones. The star sign of Gemini was represented with four looks, worn by four models; two by two - almost identical models - walked hand in hand and arm in arm wearing outfits that mir- rored each other, aside for some noticeable differences. Finalising the show, the collection developed into a display of nightwear, with layers of tulle, full-body nylon looks and sheer fabric revealing the delicate lace lingerie underneath. As always, Sardà delivers a stunning range of empowering linge- rie for women, permitting them to take hold of their divine fem- inine energy. This astrological extravaganza permits the brand to take every characteristic that we exhibit, and epitomise each in a truly beautiful manner. www.andressarda.com bite catwalk
