Dennis Brown, with whom Clive produced four tracks for, had a song called ‘When You Get Down To It’ that he re- corded in 1972 when he was 16 years old but never finished. As Clive desired to finish the song, he sought out a female singer and found 16-year-old Hollie Stephenson who was being produced by Dave Stewart. Amazedly, Dennis started recording at the young age of 11 and went on to make over 75 albums. He was anointed the crown prince of reggae by Bob Marley but died at the young age of 42. An amazing documentary filmed in Jamaica, New York, Hamburg, and London, Studio 17: The Lost Reggae Tapes allows you to appreciate the riveting talent that was chan- nelled through the studio and the memories and music of the many reggae artists who produced their music there. Expertly directed and produced by Mark James, with Resh- ma B as co-producer, Chris Morphet on camera and edited by Paul Burgess, this documentary is a must-see.
