The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2019 - Issue 26
bite accessories ICTOR ONG Wild by Nature Through this collection, Victor Wong wanted to create ametaphor on the evolution and inheritance of human cultures - from ancient to modern times, and then to the future, and fromthewild jungle to the steel jungle. It allowed his idea and interpretation of ‘beauty’ to be constantly contested and recreated as well as emphasising the harmonious co-existence between humans and nature. Whether you want the leopard print going across the lenses or the face of a leopard on the right lens, Victor Wong’s AW19 eyewear collection will separate you from the pack. With interesting tattoo designs and animal features, these futuristic assets are the way forward. One of the standout designs has white feather-like lines going diagonally across the lens with a bold cats-eye rim. Another has pink tattoo shapes across the lenses which, depending on which angle you are standing, the wearer’s eyes are either hidden or showing. I really like the snake tattoo lenses that show the predator in gold and maroon, and is also available in blue. If you look closely, you’ll see the snake’s head on the tip of the bridge. A zebra’s head in silver and black decorates one of the lenses in a design that has an effective shine. Always pushing the boundaries of iconic eyewear, Victor Wong never disappoints with his collections. It is certainly animal magic with his latest offering that embraces the wildlife of Africa. Providing cutting edge innovation, the eyewear designer shows that you do not always have to use conventional lenses to bring your ideas to life. Silk gauze has as much effect and diversity as acetate. www.victorwong.co.uk
