bite films ast F urious W hen we all but thought the long-running fran- chise of Fast & Furious had been put to bed, Universal Pictures decides to award us with a spin-off called Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw. T wo of our favourite characters, Luke Hobbs, a loyal agent of American’s Diplomatic Security Service played by Dwayne Johnson and Deckard Shaw, a former British military elite operative played by Jason Statham have been swapping smack talk and body blows since 2015’s Furious 7. Now they may have a chance to finally bring each other down in this film except there happens to be an enemy in the form of Brixton Lore played by Idris Elba, a former MI6 agent and now a cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist who gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever. At this stage, Hobbs and Shaw must put their differences and toys away until they can neutralise this common enemy with the help of Shaw’s sister Hattie, an MI6 field agent played by The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby. Fast, furious and action-packed, Hobbs and Shaw have all the workings of the Fast & Furious franchise but with more old-fashioned weaponry (since Hobbs’ mother got rid of the arsenal) and the help of his brothers that should be enough to bring Brixton down who claims he’s the ‘black Superman’. Let’s see if that happens when Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw comes to the big screen.
