The Bite Magazine - Summer 2019 - Issue 25
bite catwalk HELB IG TERES A T eresa Helbig channelled the journey of a garden for SS19, an exploration of the importance of nature in fashion from inspiration into the development of materials from fibres to fabric. The Helbig woman is noted as natural and effortless: within this collection she is draped in tulle and soft earthy tones expressing a strong connection to the roots of na- ture. Referring to the collection as ‘Knot Garden’ Helbig explored structure through the technique of weaving and knotting, creating organic shapes and lace-like structures, and embossed leather of- fered a ‘printed’ element adding further dimension to the earthy collection, and directly referencing the flora of the garden. Tulle were the base of each look, soft and flowing, and compli- mented with delicate details and ridged structures like weaving flowers in a garden. Silhouettes were sharp and structured through the highly detailed weaving techniques, a refreshing addition in among the floor length prairie dresses in dainty florals, while the more organic looking dresses honed in on the natural inspiration. It was fresh and somewhat futuristic in form. Additions of metal- lic beads and sequins added an elegant touch, with cutout brown leather replicating the patterns of the lace-like weave that are nat- urally geometric in form. www.teresahelbig.com
