The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24
bite cuisine Truffled Cauliflower Pan Fried Skrei Cod Instead of using the word ‘Desserts’ on their menu, The Perky Nel has labelled this final part of the meal ‘can’t finish without’ consisting of desserts and coffees. We went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream, and also the Bitter Chocolate Brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. Both desserts had that nice warming sensation and were gorgeous – definitely worth having. The brownie was very rich in flavour and density but was not at all sickly and I couldn’t decide which dessert I liked the best. There is always something happening at The Perky Nel, a place where you can celebrate on special occasions, indulge in 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursdays, sit out on the front terrace with a drink or two when the weather is good, or even when it isn’t you can wrap up in one of their blankets, or watch your favourite team play on the big screen. For specific sports games, make sure you book your special spot via their website to avoid any disappoint- ments. Otherwise, it will be on a first come first served basis. The Perky Nel is opened Monday to Thursday from 11am to 11pm, Friday from 11am to 12am, Saturday from 10am to 12am and Sunday from 10am to 11pm. They are also proud support- ers of the BigKid Foundation, a small charity that exists to put an end to young people losing their lives due to youth violence. Their partnership with the charity will allow them to run sports, leadership and mentoring programmes all over Lambeth engag- ing with young people that are hard to reach.
