The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24

bite cuisine is the sorbets in a choice of Coconut & Pineapple and Saffron & Star Anise and ice cream in a choice of Blood Orange and Lime & Thyme. In conclusion, Grand Trunk Road served up the best Indian cuisine I have ever tasted with its wonderful complimentary flavours and spices. Every dish is designed by Dayashankar and he has certainly blown my mind, as well as taught me that taste is more important than throwing several spices or curry powder into one dish. It is about taking the diner on a timeless gastronomic journey of delicate and the head chef has certainly done that. This has been proven time and time again having collected five awards since they opened in 2016. Last year in 2018 they won ‘Best Indian Restaurant London’ at the Asian Curry Awards; ‘Best Res- taurant and Takeaway in East London’ at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA); second prize at the Essex Food Awards and one Michelin star. Receiving positive reviews on their website and TripAdvisor has cemented the restaurant as a place to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine. Grand Trunk Road is opened for lunch Tuesday to Friday from 12pm to 2.30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm. For dinner they are opened Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm to 10.30pm, Friday and Saturday from 5.30pm to 10.30pm and Sunday from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
